EMDR, AF-EMDR, Brainspotting &
Havening Techniques Humans are hardwired with responses to help us survive life-threatening events, but when trauma gets stuck in our systems, it can leave painful reminders trapped in the brain and body. Anxiety, anger, fear, disconnection from yourself or others, relationship problems, chronic illness, pain, and dissociation are just some of the effects of unresolved trauma. You may experience disconnected images, sensations, negative beliefs, behaviors and emotions that don't "match up" with what is happening in the present moment. The good news is that trauma is responsive to healing. When working with trauma, I find that utilizing cutting-edge neuro-transformative power tools like Brainspotting, EMDR*, AF-EMDR**, and Havening in combination with Somatic Psychotherapy is an effective way to treat specific traumas or more chronic patterns in your life. We can also use these same methods to expand your capacity for joy and connection. Working together, we bring your body and mind to greater balance and find healthy completion and integration of information stuck in the neural networks in your brain and in the fight-flight-freeze-fawn experience of your body. In our relationally attuned therapy context, we can help heal multi-layered wounds and challenges that come from chronic relational trauma and neglect. We also help you discover the strengths you've had all along and develop new strengths and resources. While we can't undo past trauma, we can help you put your trauma experience in the past so you're not reliving it in your mind and body in the present moment. *Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR for Chronic Pain & Headaches
Based on the work of innovators Mark Grant and Steven Marcus, I am thrilled to offer EMDR/Brainspotting for Chronic pain and IEMDR/BSP (Integrated EMDR/Brainspotting) for Headaches. These techniques to "change your brain, change your pain" harness the transformational powers of neuroplasticity to provide pain relief without the use of additional medications or surgeries.
While many modalities may offer temporary pain or headache relief, these protocols integrate mind and body processes to change the pain as it lights up within your brain, transforming your pain itself and your experience and relationship to your pain. Follow these links to learn more about the studies that underscore the relief that everyday clients are already experiencing for headaches and for chronic pain. Having suffered with migraine headaches and chronic pain myself, I know firsthand the importance of finding effective treatments for these debilitating conditions. I am thrilled to offer these modalities to support people seeking pain relief. |
